Once again there will be a walk, following the Walking Men Memorial – which commemorates the loss of 106 lives in disasters in the Markham Colliery. The memorial consists of numerous 'walking figures walking to and from the pit ... all with identity tags. -

For those seeking meaning, nurture, and spiritual sustenance amidst the demands and challenges of life, A Sacred Space offers you a gentle nudge to come along.
Held on the last Thursday of each month at 7.30pm, this hour-long contemplative service weaves together music, poetry, readings, silence, and reflection.
It’s a space for stillness, depth, and presence—open to anyone longing for connection beyond the noise.
Whether you’re a church goer or not, you are warmly welcome to come as you are, and simply rest and restore yourself in this grounding space.
The Sheffield District has created this role to support our circuits, and their new and existing churches, to be bold in exploring creative possibilities for how premises can support growing and become even more inclusive, evangelistic and justice seeking.
“The post will support circuits and their churches to put dreams into action – through advice, practical support, and connecting them with relevant experts.”
As a justice seeking district our Missional Property Enabler will also support churches to take significant steps towards Net Zero, and lead development of new income streams from property assets, to fund our work in communities facing economic marginalisation.

Loving God,
thank you for the gift of rest,
for days off, holidays, and Sabbath pauses
that remind us we are more than our work.
Give us wisdom to know
what is ours to do
and what we can release into other hands.
Free us from the need to carry everything,
and teach us the grace of letting go.
Be close to those who are weary,
and help us play our part
in making rest possible for others too.
May our stopping be an act of trust in you.
Amen.
