By 2030 to have at least 20 longstanding churches which have grown significantly and become noticeably even more inclusive, evangelistic and justice-seeking than they are now. At least half of these will be in Church at the Margins contexts.
These churches will be underpinned by a healthy culture of prayer, personal and small group discipleship and a permissive culture that encourages supported innovation. We expect churches with ambition and opportunity to flourish to be guided by a multi-year mission/ growth plan.
Collectively, flourishing churches will contribute to a financially self-sustaining ecosystem, although we recognise that Churches at the Margins will likely require ongoing financial support as part of a Connexional church.
What is possible will be shaped by the gifts and fluctuating availability of unique individuals, so adaptive learning and incremental steps will be more important than rigid long term plans. We recognise that sometimes a period of experimentation will lead to a healthy Ending Well rather than long term continuation of a church.
Existing Church grants will usually be between £30,000 to 50,000.
Work may be focussed on a single church or a group of churches. It may include mission beyond congregational-centric activities, such as chaplaincies. But for this grant programme should be integral to FLOURISHING or REVITALISATION of existing churches.
Further details of funding available and how to apply are included in the grant guidance document below.
