Action for Hope grants

As a key part of our net zero vision we hope to support at least 18 churches to become Silver Eco Churches by 2030.

We will also provide advice and support so that simple incremental steps in creation care can become a frequent route for justice seeking churches to become revitalised. Further details about this will be published soon.

Action For Hope Grants are here to help churches with the financial costs of reducing the carbon footprint of their premises.

Churches may use these grants either as match funding for a larger carbon reduction project, or for a series of smaller steps.
Churches must have already have been awarded Eco Church Bronze status. (Bronze can usually be achieved without significant cost)
Up to £10,000 is available for each set of church premises. More than one application may be made per site, provided that the total awarded for that site does not exceed £10,000.
Grants will be awarded for carbon footprint improvements recommended by an energy efficiency survey (see grants available for these surveys) or other suitably qualified professional advice.

Churches must have an active and up to date mission/ growth plan, that this work should be compatible with. Guidance on creating a growth plan is available here

These grants are funded as part of the Action For Hope strategy, the Methodist Connexional ambition to become a net zero emissions church.

We encourage churches to use the Eco Church framework to incorporate creation-care wholistically into their worship and discipleship
