Our next District Gathering will be on the theme of Rooted, Relevant and Reimagined – being the church for today's world. Everyone is welcome to this free event, whether you are coming for the first time, have attended previous District Gatherings, or are a member of our synod.

Join us for a day of learning, sharing and worship with a buffet lunch provided as we offer an opportunity to renew existing connections across our District and meet new people.
Our morning session will be led by the new District Chair – Revd Vicky Atkins, and Trey Hall, Director of Evangelism and Growth in the Methodist Church. The afternoon will have 2 workshop sessions exploring different aspects of the theme. There are four to chose from:
Nurturing Contextual Faith Communities
Exploring how new people, pioneers, churches and circuits all gain from supporting and listening to the pioneers in our midst led by Dr Heather Major, Cliff College Research Fellow in New Places for New People, Evangelism & Growth
Eco Church next steps
Why and how to get started and keep journeying with the Eco Church framework led by Hamish Leese, the Connexional Action for Hope Implementation Officer, supporting Methodism on a path to becoming a net zero church
Revitalising small churches in context
Reclaiming local lay leadership to reimagine mission led by Erica Dunmow, Chair of Trustees of Urban Theology Union, District EDI Officer and a member of Churches Together in England's Urban Mission Network
Adaptive leadership
Growing resilient teams for an era of uncertain change led by Trey Hall, Director of Evangelism and Growth
Within the District Gathering we will hold the life of Methodism across our district in prayer, renew our relationship with our wider Connexional church, and make any formal decisions required of us as a district – the work of the representative synod.
Registration will close on MONDAY 1 September at noon – please contact the District Office (admin@sheffieldmethodist.org) after this date.
Staincross Methodist Church has a large car park (but please share lifts where possible to reduce carbon footprint). It is three miles from Barnsley town centre. The chapel has step free access to all rooms, albeit that step free access between floors is via a ramp around the outside of the building. We will allow plenty of time to move between workshops
Location: Staincross Methodist Church, Barnsley, S75 6BP
Download: A4 poster, A5 leaflet, Powerpoint image – all can be downloaded for you to share in your churches.
