Illuminated Frieze at Victoria Stafford Road

Victoria Stafford Road Methodist Church in Sheffield is creating a patchwork frieze to be displayed in an illuminated case outside the church as part of The Art of Welcome project.

Through conversations with local people, the church has identified a growing need to nurture connections between different groups within the community so have teamed up with a local graphic designer to create the artwork serving as a visible and lasting invitation to the wider community that all are welcome.

There will be a series of community workshops designed to create pieces of artwork then each design will be sewn together into a permanent frieze. This collective artwork will reflect the experiences and contributions of all who take part, creating a meaningful representation of belonging and welcome.

It is hoped this Art of Welcome project will become a powerful symbol of unity, creativity, and community spirit, with the final display planned for the autumn.
