Greenhill Methodist Church to Create a Welcome Mural

Greenhill Methodist Church in Sheffield is creating a mural and freestanding gallery as part of The Art of Welcome project.

They will be working with uniformed organisations and their community Munch Club, to look at what welcome means to them and offering a series of workshops to help people explore more deeply how they can use art to express themselves.

Naomi Gordon, Community Outreach Manager said: "Thanks to the district's Art of Welcome grant we are going to paint an outdoor mural at the entrance to the church with the theme of belonging, welcome and growth – shape and colour have a way of trancending the limitations of words to help us access meaning and feelings and help us express our views. 

"In Greenhill there are many beautiful murals and we want to put our church on the map and create a memoral visual which will help the wider community to understand the priorities of the church."

The Art of Welcome builds on Greenhill's priority of not just thinking of church as doing things for the community but instead to "get to know you too".
