Eco-Church Awards

Well done to Hathersage Methodist Church in the Peak Circuit on becoming the 10th church to be granted an Eco-Church Award in the Sheffield District.

There are now churches in most circuits in the Sheffield District who have either been awarded a bronze or silver Eco-Church award or are registered with the scheme and are awaiting their awards.

Whirlow Spirituality Centre

Contemplative Walking

We are widening our opportunities for contemplative practice by offering Contemplative Walking on the first Thursday of each month during the summer months.

We will meet at Whirlow for a brief introduction by the leader and then walk slowly and in silence in the local area for about 45 minutes.

We will then return to Whirlow to share our experience. The evening will run from 7pm to 8.30pm at the latest.

The Nature of God

Following our successful workshop last year, Jo Musker-Sherwood is returning to Whirlow to lead a day's retreat to help us explore our feelings about the planet.
Saturday 24 September from 10am to 3pm. Cost £35.

Circuit Operations Manager

The Peak Circuit

The Peak Methodist Circuit are recruiting for a Circuit Operations Manager (P/T 20-hours per week) to assume operational lead and oversee operational strategies by supporting ministers, circuit stewards, and local churches, with practical management expertise so that the mission and vision strategy can be delivered effectively.

This is both a challenging and broad role where the successful applicant will support the transition to modernised ways of working, releasing resources for mission by supporting the key areas of operations, administration, property, finance, people, and compliance.

Community Warden

Cliff College is seeking to appoint to the new role of Community Warden. This will be a key role, overseeing the student life of the College, developing community cohesion, supporting the provision of student welfare and shaping the student spiritual formation programme.

Petertide Ordinations

On Saturday 25th a total of 8 people were ordained as priests by Bishop of Sheffield Dr Pete Wilcox, with 14 people ordained as deacons on Sunday 26th by Bishop of Doncaster the Rt Revd Sophie Jelley.
Among those ordained was Geraldine Pearce – to serve as distinctive deacon in the parish of Holy Trinity, Thorpe Hesley (SSM).
Geraldine was the Sheffield Circuit Manager when the circuits first came together. We wish her every blessing for the future.
