Derbyshire North East Circuit has teamed up with local partners to support refugee's, families from the Ukraine and their host families.
A number of Chesterfield residents have applied to the Government's Homes for Ukraine Scheme so Revd Mark Carrick and a team of volunteers have created a weekly space at Central Methodist Church for refugee families to come together to create friendships, their host families can come along and make connections too, and together a community support can be established.
What's happening in your local community? We'd like to hear about your church or circuits involved too. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with your story!
April 3rd was a day of celebration at Apperknowle Methodist Church. Their organist Eric Faulkner was presented by Rev James Morley with his 60 year golden certificate as church organist.
They have all appreciated his skill and dedication
For much of this time he also played at night at his home church – Chesterfield Central.

In partnership with 'The Welcome Directory', Learning Network Yorkshire Plus is offering the opportunity to learn more about how we might welcome into our church those leaving prison. Jesus spent a lot of time hanging about with people who are on the margins of society and He asks us specifically to love those we find difficult. How might we be able to do that, and to do it safely? What do people leaving prison need? How might we offer not only support, but a loving faith community they can be welcomed into? What safeguarding do we need to be aware of?Register here: https://220511welcomechurch.eventbrite.co.uk
