Every year Action for Children nominates people from within different parts of the charity for the annual national Stephenson Awards.

This year Angela & Nick Waterfield from the Sheffield Circuit were nominated for and won an award for Inspirational Caregivers after 18 years fostering with Action for Children; the award was in part for all the work they had done with children throughout that time but in particular for the support they have provided their current child Malachi who himself has won numerous awards for his photography business called Torched Views.

Action for Children , formally the National Children's Home, host The Stephenson Awards to recognise the work of supporters, volounteers, carers and staff members, and the achievements of the children and young people and families they support. The awards are in remembrance of The Reverand Dr Thomas Bowman Stephenson who saw children living rough under the arches of Waterloo Station, London. Instead of just walking by he stopped to listen to their stories, then worked out how to help them. This happened over 150 years ago and is how the charity began.

Angela & Nick said: "We're really humbled and honoured to receive this award, fostering isn't always easy, but it is always worthwhile. We hope that more people will think about offering a loving and caring home to the many young people who are still in need."
