Family Fun Day

16 July – Bakewell

Join us on our first family picnic gathering across the district.
We will meet at Bakewell Methodist Church at 10.30am for a short time together for family church with lots of fun, fellowship and activities. Then we'll head over to the park (across the road) for picnic and games – weather permitting.
All you need to do is bring a picnic with you and join in on all the fun.

We have been informed that the A619 from Baslow to Bakewell will be closed due to roadworks. The alternative route is the A623 from Baslow towards Calver, then take the B6001 to Hassop.
Please use the Long Stay car park as there is no parking at Bakewell Methodist Church.

City Wires and Networks Forum

Urban Theology Union

Due to circumstances beyond their control, UTU's City Wires and Networks forum with Lord David Blunkett, Council member Kristerfer Burnett and Reverend Zaidie Orr, arranged for Wednesday, 13 July 2022, has had to be postponed until the autumn.

Norma Lackenby's Funeral

A Service of Thanksgiving will take place at Gainsborough Methodist Church on Friday 22nd July 2022 at 12.30 pm

All We Can fundraiser

Last weekend Inderjit Bhogal and his son, Liamarjit, took part in the British 10km run in London, to raise funds for All We Can.

District Safeguarding Update.

The last session of How to Support Your Church Safeguarding Officer has been rescheduled for Thursday 28th July. The session will still last for 1 hour, starting at 7.00pm, via Zoom. Advanced Safeguarding Training

If you need to attend Advanced Safeguarding Training please note that there are no more sessions available in this Connexional year. Registration for the last two session, taking place on Wednesday 20th July are now closed.
We are planning a whole range of session in the next Connexional year, which will include at least one full day, face to face, session in each circuit. Course details will be sent to each Circuit Superintendent, with a request that the information is shared with each church. I will also post links to the information in Septembers District newsletter.

Safeguarding Audits

All the annual Safeguarding Audits have now been sent out to churches. If your church has not received either part A (sent to Church Safeguarding Officers) or B (sent to Church Council members) then please email me directly and I will resend. If you have received an electronic version of the audit but would prefer a hard copy please let me know and I will arrange for one to be posted out to you.

Proms Fundraiser Event

for Victoria Hall Methodist Church Main Hall Renovations

16 July at 12:00 noon
Join Sheffield's flagship amateur orchestra with conductor George Morton for a fun-filled, hour-long orchestral concert exploring some classical masterpieces and well-known proms favourites, including the Radetzky March, the March from the Dam Busters, and selections from Henry Wood's Fantasia from British Sea Songs.
This concert is a fundraising concert to support the upgrade of the seating at the Victoria Hall, this will enable the space to be used for multiple purposes by the community organisations and charities. All proceeds from the concert will be donated towards this cause.

LAY PASTOR

Doncaster Methodist Circuit

The Circuit is seeking to appoint a full time Lay Pastor to provide pastoral support and care alongside the Circuit Ministry Team to 4 churches in the Circuit.

The salary will be £21686.16 plus £4066.80 Housing Allowance
The initial appointment will be for 1 year and may be extended subject to a Circuit staffing review in spring 2023.
This is a Circuit appointment and will be based in 4 churches in the Circuit to be determined following appointment.
Evening and weekend work will be required.
