Bible Marathon at Greenhill

To celebrate it's 200th birthday, Greenhill Methodist Church, Sheffield completed a Bible Marathon reading Genesis to Revelation in four days.

In 84.5 hours, 88 people completed 316 readings as part of Greenhills bi-centenary celebrations of the first church built on the site.

Revd. Jonathan Haigh explains: "As part of our bi-centenary celebrations we wanted to declare that we want the Word to be heard. It was great to have so many people willing to read from the Bible, but also how people just came to sit and listen.

"When we reached Revelation, the atmosphere was electric with over 40 people in church and around 19 online just to have Revelation read over them. We all read the final chapter together and spontaneous applause broke out. Another highlight was at about 4am on the Sunday morning when, the words "as the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord upon me" where spoken a flash of lightening filled the church and a massive clap of thunder made us all jump – perfect timing!

"Thank you to everyone who took part, who came to listen and who made the marathon possible. To God be the Glory"
