Synod Secretary – Revd. Margaret Mwailu

Margaret is married to Daniel a Methodist Minister and they have two group up sons, and one grandson.

Margaret took up this role in September 2017 and works closely with the Chair of District to ensure smooth running of both the Representative (Spring and Autumn) and the Presbyterial Sessions of Synod. She meets with the Chair to make Synod agenda and liaises with the host circuit regarding synod arrangement. During synod, she takes minutes; deals with appointment of synod scrutineers; appointments of District Officers and election of district Representatives to the Conference and informs Conference Office of the elected representatives and writes a Synod report to the Methodist Recorder. Also, she receives District Memorials and forwards them to the Conference Office, and informs Conference Arrangements Team of ministers wishing to attend Conference at their own expense;

At the end of each Connexional year, Margaret arranges for copies of Synod Agenda, District Reports, District Directory and Synod minutes to be sent to Conference Office. She also completes District returns and forwards them to Conference Office.

Margaret as Synod Secretary is involved in the life of the district in various ways and is a member of the District planning Group; Convenor of the Chair's Nomination Group and with the group oversees the appointment or re-invitation of the Chair of District. She is also is member of District Leadership Team, (DLT); Manse Committee, Probationers' Panel and Circuit Steward's Gathering.
