Synod Secretary – Revd Sean Adair

The Synod Secretary is involved in the life of the district in various ways and is a member of the District Planning Group; Convenor of the Chair's Nomination Group and with the group oversees the appointment or re-invitation of the Chair of District. They are also a member of District Leadership Team (DLT), Manse Committee, Probationers' Panel and Circuit Steward's Gathering. They Synod Secretary represents the District at Conference as one of representatives

Sean Adair has served on the Sheffield District since 1998 when he came to our Connexion from the Methodist Church in Ireland. He served for 15 years on the Rotherham & Dearne Valley Circuit and 10 years on the Derbyshire North East Circuit, serving as Superintendent for most of those years. For four years part time, and one-year full time, Sean served the Church from 2009 to 2014 at the York Institute for Community Theology as the Director of Vocational Learning and later as the Acting Director of this Training Institution. He has served the District as Local Preachers Officer (2012-2016), as Deputy Chair of District (2016-2022). He is now serving in the Sheffield Circuit part time at Mosborough, Killamarsh & Renishaw.
In the other half of his life, he is working toward a doctorate at Cliff College. Sean is married to Alison. They have two adult daughters, Beth & Lauren, and a grandson, Theodore.
