One of the ways we equip our circuits and churches to respond to the gospel of God's love in Christ and to live out their discipleship in worship and mission is through making available grant support for transformational mission projects and making properties fit for mission. These grants are funded from annual contributions from circuits to our District Advance Fund.
We will consider any relevant application that is consistent with our mission, but primarily provide grants for:
We expect applications to be seeking funding from a range of sources (including any surplus reserves they hold locally), to have a clear missional plan for the project, to be able to articulate clearly what could go wrong and how they will manage these risks, and to have consulted with district and other experts.
Grants are considered by our Grants Committee. Application deadlines for 2020/21 are: 23 September, 31 December, 4 March, 27 May.
Grant application forms are available from John Purdy, our Grants Officer.
Significant property redevelopments usually require approval for the work to be undertaken through the Methodist property consents website. This is a separate process to applying for District grant funding. Contact our Property Secretaries for questions about property consents.
All grant holders are required to evaluate their project on completion (property) or annually (employment/ other) and submit a grant evaluation form to John Purdy, our Grants Secretary and Katrin Hackett, our Administrator.
