Keep Fishing!

“Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch”.
Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything.
But because you say so, I will let down the nets”.

  • Is your church planning a new missional initiative?

  • Something you haven’t done before?

  • A one-off event, regular activity or group?

  • Will it invite new people into or towards your worshipping community?

We all know that we must keep innovating and learning if our churches are to continue to welcome new people and be truly open to the ever-changing communities around us. But we sometimes need some help, advice or encouragement to get started.

Keep Fishing! provides grants of up to £500 to support circuits and churches (including LEP’s) across Sheffield Methodist District as they try new missional initiatives reaching out to new people.

These could be new one-off events, regular events, activities or groups. Because its purpose is to encourage people to take missional risks, grants are not “means tested”. Grants should comprise all or most of the cost of the event, group or activity you are starting. Separate district grant schemes are available for larger property and employment projects, and for training costs
