We Welcome our New Safeguarding Officer

Our new Safeguarding Officer, Alison Hill joined our team of District Officers on Monday 18th May.

She has a wealth of experience and is already making connections around the District.

Alison said: “I started work in the middle of May after leaving my previous role working for Derbyshire County Council in their Early Help and Safeguarding department of Children’s Services for 13 years.

“The purpose of the District Safeguarding Officer (DSO) is to take a lead for the Methodist Church in the Sheffield District on issues relating to the safeguarding and protection of children and vulnerable adults.

“The DSO works closely with the District Chair and the District Safeguarding Group in providing leadership for good safeguarding practice throughout the churches and Circuits of the District.  This will be achieved through complying with the policies and strategies of the Methodist Church; adhering to legal requirements on matters to do with safeguarding; developing good practice and effective training; providing advice concerning response to queries; and undertaking risk assessments in individual cases.

“At the moment I am relying on technology to connect me with key people in the District, however I am very much looking forward to travelling around the District and getting to know as many people as I can once it is safe to do so.”
