Training & Development Officer - Yorkshire Region

Caroline Riley

Caroline is one of two Training & Development Officers for the Yorkshire Region, taking lead responsibility for the Sheffield and West Yorkshire Districts. She is based at the District Office in the Victoria Hall in Sheffield, together with her administrative assistant, Val Higgins. The other Officer for the Yorkshire Districts is Viv Morrissey, based in York. Caroline was employed by the Methodist Church as a Youth Officer in London for three years before coming to Sheffield in June 1999. Previously she has been a teacher, voluntary youth worker, waitress, managed a wholefood restaurant and worked as a programme worker for Iona Community at one of its centres on the Isle of Iona, Scotland. She sees training as being both about 'tooling' people up for particular jobs and about liberation and unleashing people's God-given creativity.

The vision behind the development of the scheme of Training Officers across the whole Methodist Connexion is:

One of the key tasks the Officers will be working on is developing local access to training for circuits.
