"O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you. My soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you in a dry and weary land where there is no water." (Psalm 63)

As steel ingots are lowered into the furnace in Stocksbridge steelworks, then shaped and sent out, so may our lives be dawn into the refining fire of your love and by your Spirit reshaped according to your purpose and will. Amen.

Sheffield North Circuit (25/5): Superintendent Minister - Rev Maurice Stafford

The circuit is adjacent to Sheffield West and pilgrim Circuits. On the north side of Sheffield, it fans out from Hillsborough northwards taking in Stocksbridge and two villages beyond. This diverse Circuit includes places of social deprivation such as Parson Cross as well as suburban neighbourhoods, centres and villages.

Give thanks for:

The nudge of the Spirit in our life together.
Thurgoland's courageous decision to close and its members continuing their worship and discipleship in other churches.
The exciting movement of Stocksbridge Methodist and Stocksbridge URC to form one society.
Brightholmlee celebrating its 200th Anniversary, a joyful society punching above their weight.

Please pray for:

The CLT seeking to develop a new Circuit policy and mission Statement to take us forward in regard to contemporary challenges.
The CLT seeking to replace a Circuit Steward, who has moved to East Yorkshire.
Rev Richard Thompson in his final year 2007/8 before retirement and the Rev Judith Jessop seeking re-invitation beyond 2008.
Conversations with reps from all the local churches and with Steve Wild of Cliff College to establish 'Incarnational; Mission' on Parson Cross.

Lord, in your love you created us, Christ by love you set us free, Spirit, through love, you nurture and sustain us. We open our lives to you and to all you give to us our brothers and sisters in the world. Amen.
