The Methodist Church is part of the worldwide Christian Church.

The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God's love in Jesus Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission.

The Sheffield District is one of 32 Districts of the Methodist Church in Great Britain.

MAPPING A WAY FORWARD

The report on the future shape of the District is now available for consultation.

To download a copy of the report, or read the responses from Synod click here.

Our core values are to:

  • underpin all we do with God-centred worship and prayer
  • encourage mission oriented and people-centred Churches
  • affirm the importance of wise use of resources
  • recognise fragile pieces of work that need to be sustained
  • give attention to areas where new work should be begun.

Our priorities are to:

  • focus on mission, especially where resources are lacking
  • encourage fresh ways of being Church
  • develop confidence in evangelism
  • support community development and action for justice
  • encourage Church & Circuit reviews
  • encourage learning and development
  • build partnerships with others
  • act in ways that contribute to the care of the earth
  • encourage Circuit cross-border cooperation
  • explore and nurture spirituality.
