Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

18-25 January 2020

It might seem a long way off, but we are being encouraged to plan ahead to make this a moment of outreach and evangelism.

We are invited in this year’s Week Of Prayer for Christian Unity materials to see God working through people and places which offer unusual  kindness. If only we would do the appropriate kind of looking.

This time we accompany the churches of Malta, praying with and alongside them, praying also for them in their Christian journey as they seek the unity for which Christ prayed. And we rejoice with them that Malta traces its Christian origins back to the time of the Apostles. And in so doing, we enter into the drama of St Paul, those that travelled with him, and the inhabitants whom they met, to discover our shared unity, and in so doing recognise the importance of unusual acts of kindness that bear witness to the Gospel of peace and reconciliation.

You can download the pamplhet here: WPCU 2020 English pamphlet (web) and a wealth of support material will be available at www.ctbi.org.uk/weekofprayer — it’s not yet live, but it will be, so keep checking.

Taste Prayer Points

We’re passionate about getting clean water to rural Nigerian communities.  If you can help, we’d be delighted!

Praise for:

  • God’s faithfulness in protecting TASTE staff as they travel to many remote areas to carry out projects and to share his love with needy communities
  • Nuhu Chayi, TASTE Nigeria Country Director, who has been able to source a drilling rig for the Amankpunato Achi (Ben Udejiofo’s family village) Project for £3,800; a previous quote from a local firm had been for £10,000
  • Our Patron Dan Walker’s appearance on Celebrity Catchphrase last month which raised £14,500 for the Amankpunato Achi Project
  • Our friends in Reeth, Thirsk and Darlington who at the Reeth Ramble 2019 on Saturday 19 October, raised £332.22p – a truly magnificent amount considering that they are all also busy with their own fundraising and relief work following the devastating floods across much of the region in the summer. Please pray for them

Pray that:

  • Our staff will continue to honour God in all that they do both in the UK and in Nigeria and would know God’s protection especially in Nigeria as they work in remote and isolated communities
  • Nuhu Chayi  (TASTE Nigeria Country Director) and Ben Udejiofo (CEO) would be given wisdom as they work towards getting a bigger drilling rig to enable TASTE to provide boreholes in communities with rock strata that the current smaller rig cannot drill through. The new rig is likely to cost in the region of £100,000
  • Ben Udejiofo and daughter Sarah would have a safe and fruitful trip in Nigeria as they travel there for two weeks in mid-November

Thank you for praying for us. Feel free to call Ben on – 07737413772 – if you’d like further information about any of these issues.
