A Pastoral Message – Sunday 17th May

Dear friends During this last week we have received the news of the gradual easing of the lockdown.  We’ve been given a road map by the government and the professional advisers that sets out for us the best case scenarios in terms of our direction of travel with some checkpoints along the way.  We recognise […]

A Methodist Way of Life

A Methodist Way of Life, is a way of life that builds on Our Calling through inviting people, and if possible groups, to engage in what I regard to be life-giving and thought-provoking commitments and accountability questions, each desiring individuals to deepen their relationship with God and others.

VE Day 75th Anniversary

Millions of people rejoiced in the news that Germany had surrendered, relieved that the intense strain of total war was finally over. In towns and cities across the world, people marked the victory with street parties, dancing and singing.
But it was not the end of the conflict, nor was it an end to the impact the war had on people. The war against Japan did not end until August 1945, and the political, social and economic repercussions of the Second World War were felt long after Germany and Japan surrendered.

A Pastoral Message – Sunday 26th April

As I have been reflecting on the unexpected journey that we have all been on so far in this year, I have been recalling how, many of us had been moving towards the year 2020 with a great sense of anticipation that it would be a wonderful year of hope and vision. Many churches had established plans under headings such as “2020 Vision” or something similar and some individuals had developed personal plans for their own spiritual development through this year. We had great ideas about what we might be able to achieve and in many cases, a real sense of being led by God into those plans.

So, what’s the story I wonder? One week after Easter, what has the good news of the resurrection been for us or done for us? What difference has our knowledge of the empty tomb made to our lives over the last week?

A Pastoral Message from Revd Gill Newton – Sunday 5th April

As I write to you today, we find ourselves on the edge of Holy Week, poised to share in the journey of Christ to the cross. But, of course, this year, we find ourselves sharing in this experience in a very different way. All our usual patterns and practices of journeying together through Lent and Holy Week have been stripped from us as a result of the need for social distancing and isolation.
