Pastoral Message – Sunday 28th June

If it were not for the Covid-19 pandemic, I should have spent today in Telford, joining with countless other Methodists from across the country and overseas in the Conference Worship. Amongst other things we would have sung our hearts out, listened to the President or Vice President preach and rejoiced with all the ordinands as they were Received into Full Connexion with the Methodist Church.

Weekly Prayer – Sunday 28th June

Holy God, we are your church, a motley bunch of individuals woven together by your invitation to us to follow you.

Pastoral Message Sunday 21st June

As some of you will know, I fairly recently completed the Couch to 5k programme and so far I’ve managed to sustain the habit of running for 30 minutes several times a week. That may not sound that impressive to those of you are really fit, but for me it’s quite an achievement – I don’t think I have ever run for that long in my life before, not even when I was at school!

Weekly Prayer – Sunday 21st June

Loving God, as the days of the lockdown turn into weeks and the weeks turn into months, we grow weary and impatient and we are in danger of making unwise choices and decisions that put us and others at risk.

Weekly Prayer Sunday 14th June

Holy God, as we look around us we see a world which feels broken and fragmented, a world that feels unfair and biased, a world that feels dark and hopeless to many of those with whom we share this life.

Pastoral Message – Sunday 14th June

When we first went into lockdown we were in the season of Lent with little or no idea of how long we would find ourselves in this situation. Since then we have journeyed through Eastertide and now, just a couple of weeks ago, we began the season of Pentecost just at the same time as the lockdown was gently eased and we entered a new phase of the Covid-19 journey.

Pastoral Message for Trinity Sunday (7th June)

Dear friends One of the things that has really struck me during this period of lockdown, is just how much more time there has been to appreciate the beauty and the wonder of the creation around us.  In life before lockdown I would often spend several hours each day rushing from place to place across […]

A Pastoral Message for Pentecost Sunday

Dear friends As the day of Pentecost dawns we remember how, following the resurrection, friends of Jesus gathered in a house in Jerusalem with the doors locked “for fear of the Jews.”  During this time Jesus visited them and offered them reassurance through his greetings of peace.  But then, came the ascension.  Jesus left them […]

A Weekly Prayer from Revd. Gill Newton

God of wind and flame, God of water and dove, we thank you that you have spoken to us in language that we understand and enabled us to know you more and experience your love. Help us in these troubled times to speak words of comfort to all those who have suffered illness, bereavement and […]

Pastoral Message – Sunday 24th May

During this period of lockdown, many of us will perhaps have read or watched “heartwarming” stories of individuals like Colonel Tom Moore who have gone to great lengths to raise money for the NHS or other charities or of key workers whose courage has meant the difference between life and death for others.
