Regional Retreat

12-14 November 2019

The next Yorkshire Plus Regional Retreat for Presbyters, Deacons and Lay Employees will be at Wydale Hall near Scarborough from Tuesday 12 to Thursday 14 November. The theme is “Deepening our Friendship with God”, led by Edel McClean.

The relationships that we cherish in our lives are always evolving and growing.  Sometimes those friendships are simply woven into the everyday and sometimes we need to make time to reconnect. This retreat offers the time to reconnect with God and God’s friendship. Taking an Ignatian approach we’ll have times of quiet prayer as well as time for reflection and discussion. Most of all we’ll seek to create an atmosphere where you can pay attention to God’s desire to welcome you into an ever-deepening friendship.

Edel McClean is a facilitator, trainer, spiritual director and retreat leader. She is currently employed as a learning and development officer in the Learning Network of the Methodist Church in Britain. She has a particular interest in prayer, discernment and in helping people meet with God in all the ups and downs of life.

Retreat Cost: £200. Please contact your District Office to
request funding support. You may also wish to seek support
from your Circuit or local church

Places are limited and you are encouraged to book early to secure a place. Bookings can be made via EventBrite : regionalretreatnov2019. You will be invoiced once the booking has been received.

Adjusting the Balance workshop

28 May – Whirlow Spirituality Centre, Sheffield

Have you noticed that it can be easier to love our ‘neighbours’ than to love ourselves?

Maybe, at times, you’re too busy and find it hard to make time for yourself; to re-charge your batteries?

It can be hard to take self-care seriously, even though we encourage others to “take care!” all the time….but if we don’t find a way to build it into the midst of our busy lives, we may struggle. This mid-day workshop will focus on the importance of Self-Care for anyone involved in caring for and supporting others. Among other things, attendees will have chance to try simple ‘body-mindfulness’ practices that can be used as a form of body-prayer, offering a gentle way to get started with better self-care.

May 28th, 11am (after Reflective Communion) to 2pm. Led by Teresa Dickens. Book here.
