Part-time Lay Minister

Huddersfield Methodist Circuit

is seeking to appoint a part-time lay minister to work with and lead the local Churches in Kirkheaton and Lepton.

We are looking for an outgoing, proactive, creative Christian with experience of leadership in church settings.

Hours/week: 30           Rate of pay: £18,495 per annum plus pension provision

Part-time Lay Worker

Rotherham & Dearne Valley Circuit


We are seeking a part time lay worker for ten hours per week. Working with the appointed pastor the successful candidate will work to provide effective pastoral care in their churches, will need to be an experienced leader of bible studies and work with the church councils to help develop the vision of the churches.

The appointment is for a fixed 3 year period, with an initial 6 month probationary period. Salary is in accordance with the Living Wage with extra points for relevant experience, £8.96 per hour. Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be paid.

Urban Theology Union – Office Manager

Circuit Youth Work Facilitator

(for 12 months, from Sept 2017-Aug 2018)

The Chesterfield Circuit is seeking to appoint someone with the passion and expertise to consolidate, facilitate and evaluate the youth work across our Circuit. They will be co-ordinating an emerging team which is delivering specific elements of youth work that has been developed over the last six years.

As our youth work facilitator, you will work with others to:

  • facilitate the youth activities within our Circuit’s Churches, promoting youth participation at every level
  • evaluate the status of our youth work provision
  • formulate proposals for future youth work engagement within the overall review of our Circuit’s mission priorities and activities.

This work will be for 40 hours per week (worked flexibly to accommodate events and meetings).

The salary is in the region of £23,000 per annum subject to qualifications and experience plus automatic enrolment in a pension scheme.

District Safeguarding Officer – part time

Yorkshire West District (Proposed name for the new District being formed from part of the current Leeds District and the current West Yorkshire District) 

is seeking to recruit a District Safeguarding Officer (part-time) to work from home initially within the Leeds section of the new District as part of a team of 3 District Safeguarding Officers.  Starting date 1 September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The appointment is for 18 hours per week worked flexibly including evenings and occasional weekends, with a probationary period of 6 months.  Salary £18.85 per hour (£17,652 per annum).

Volunteer Opportunities

Covenant Champions – Volunteer Positions 

Are you a lay or ordained person in the Church of England or the Methodist Church who longs for both churches to move towards fuller unity in mission, worship, and holiness?

Do you have the enthusiasm, understanding, and commitment to raise the profile of the Covenant and to champion the work currently being done to enable both churches to fulfil their commitments to God and each other?

We are seeking up to six people from the two churches to be Covenant Champions in each of nine regions for a term of up to four years.

You could be one of these in your region and make a significant difference to how both churches live the Covenant.   Your commitment would be about ten hours a month.

Expressions of interest are invited from lay and ordained persons in good standing in either the Church of England or the Methodist Church.

Do you have the time, interest and skill to help assess grant applications and ensure that funding is used for missional purposes?

Much of the work is done on line and by telephone conferencing with 2-3 meetings in London per year.
