This year, Sheffield MWiB is in partnership with the Women’s Skill Centre Freetown, post Ebola, in Sierra Leone.

10 year’s ago under Carol Wignell’s Presidentship the MWiB District raised £10,000 for building work in Freetown in order that a centre for young women with little or no formal education could be trained in tailoring, dyeing, and catering and could go on to set up businesses of their own.

Now that it has reopened not only have existing students returned, but there are many new applicants, older girls, seeking training, not schooling.

BUT – ‘No room!’ The roof urgently needs repair and the curriculum needs to be extended to include basic hygiene. All this costs money! Repairs and new building have begun in faith!

Staff also need training, new materials and new methods for delivering the hygiene programme needed for 21st century Sierra Leone. The estimate for this work is £2,500 but I am sure it will be more – the need is URGENT. Can we raise £5,000 to continue this expression of the gospel which we began earlier?
The magazine “Together in Mission” is our MWiB Sheffield District publication. Watch out for the next edition. We recommend it to you.
